The Herbert Enterprise Group LLC (THEG) founded in 2007, is a real estate acquisitions, development, and investment company that brings together unique qualifications including development expertise, financial capacity, design excellence, and a proven commitment to successfully and efficiently completing projects in minority communities.
The vision of THEG is always to work in partnership with community leaders and stakeholders to create; new community ownership mechanism through Public Private partnerships (P3), delivering world-class projects that create thriving urban economic commercial cultural centers and unlock the tremendous potential of each real estate asset.
With a development team that is comprised of established real estate development, design, and construction professionals, with significant accomplishments in the realms of housing, commercial, educational, and retail mixed-use developments, THEG is able to deliver top quality, sustainable projects and assets to private property owners, community development corporations, public agencies, churches, and non-profit organizations alike.
Jabari Herbert
Managing Member, The Herbert Enterprises Group, LLC
Jabari Herbert is a 25-year veteran of the real estate development industry. He currently identifies capital investment opportunities and manages the development of asset portfolios for various real estate companies in the United States and internationally. He is a managing member with Grid Development Partners LLC, which creates community-based utility co-ops to facilitate the distribution of energy that operates independently of a power grid. In addition, he is a board member with Meda (Mission Economic Development Agency), in San Francisco, California.
Affordable-housing development isn’t Herbert’s only forte: He has worked in association with Pacific Charter School Development to create a long-term facility partnership with OUSD for Bay Area Charter Schools. This has led to $175m in Prop 51 state bond funding for OUSD’s properties. Although Jabari’s professional plate is very full, he finds time to give back as a civic member of a number of organizations, including: Kappa Alpha Psi; Bay Area 100 Black Men; Friendship Christian Center International; Mission Economic Development Agency.

OUR EXPERIENCE
The Herbert Enterprise Group LLC (“THEG”) is a private real estate acquisitions and development company founded in 2003 that is owned and operated by Jabari Herbert, a real estate developer and investor with more than 25 years of experience. THEG is dedicated to the development of high-quality communities through housing, commercial, retail and entertainment properties that are held for long-term investment. Once completed, these properties are self- managed in THEG’s long-term ownership portfolio. THEG is a MBE/SLBE business, headquartered in Oakland, CA within Alameda County. During its 13 years in operation, THEG has developed and managed mixed-use real estate projects that create local ownership and promote sustainable economic development, while capturing the cultural heritage of local residents. THEG has focused its efforts on channeling investment into transit-oriented developments in blighted commercial and residential districts in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The company is best known for its diligence and success in assembling property and obtaining entitlements associated with the redevelopment of the West Oakland BART Station area. After nearly 20 years of concerted effort, THEG has solidified the vision for Mandela Transit Village, a $900 million master-planned development of the 17 acres surrounding West Oakland BART.
